How does the connection with BitGo work?

When integrating your BitGo account into the Platform, you can choose between two distinct connection types, each designed for a specific purpose:

  • Trading – to execute buy and sell orders.

  • Custody – to view your assets held in custody.

This separation ensures more accurate control over your strategies and financial reports.

Supported account types

Through the Parfin Platform, you can connect both your Spot account and your Margin Trading account (Post Trade Settlement – PTS) from BitGo.

  • Spot Account – uses your available balance for trading.

  • PTS Account (Post Trade Settlement) – allows you to trade on margin, using credit provided by BitGo.

⚠️ Important: If you have both Spot and PTS accounts, you must create two separate connections within the platform. Each connection is handled independently in both the interface and the reports.

Quick Summary

  • Spot account = uses balance → liquidity validation enabled → shows available balance;

  • PTS account = uses credit → no liquidity validation → shows open positions;

  • Each account type requires a separate connection;

  • Reports and data are displayed based on the connection type;

Key differences between Spot and PTS connections on the Parfin Platform

The separation between Spot and PTS accounts ensures complete control and traceability over operations executed with your own funds (Spot) or using credit (PTS). This helps reduce operational risk and simplifies data reconciliation.

The table below outlines the main differences between Spot and PTS accounts when connected to the Parfin platform:

No liquidity validation is performed.

The counterparty will always join the price competition.

If no credit is available at the moment of execution, the trade will fail and return an error.

Viewing limits and credit usage for a PTS account

When using a PTS connection, the Parfin platform allows you to monitor your credit limits and current exposure through the Settlement Summary report. Accessible via API (see documentation), this report provides:

  • Maximum margin limits for long and short positions per asset;

  • Used credit, showing how much of your margin is already allocated to open positions;

  • Current exposure per asset, with amounts converted to USD when available from the counterparty;

This information helps you manage your PTS account usage and make informed decisions when placing new orders.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What happens if I create a BitGo connection without enabling “PTS Account”?

The platform will treat the connection as a Spot account. All displayed information (Portfolio and reports) will refer to your Spot account. Any trades executed via this connection will also be performed through Spot.

2. Do I need three separate connections if I have Spot, PTS, and Custody accounts?

Yes. Each account type must be connected individually to ensure proper data segregation and accurate operational control.

3. Does the platform validate liquidity before executing trades on a PTS account?

No. Since PTS accounts operate on credit, the platform does not check for available balance. The trade will only go through if credit is available at the moment of execution.

4. How can I tell if my connection is a PTS type?

The system displays a “PTS” flag next to the connection name. Wherever the counterparty name appears in the interface, this flag will indicate the account is a Margin Trading (PTS) connection.
